when do we contact midwife when in labour??
i didnt time my contractions all day then an hr after hubby finished work he said o me yoiu better phone the mw!! told him i think we need to time contractions 1st they had been pretty regular up until hen but all over the place when he decided to time them. midwife came an hr later after us ringing and i was 6cm
My contractions were all over the place and when the midwife came out she didnt think i was very far along but she examined me to find i was 6cm! About 5 mins after being examined my waters broke but the midwife had to leave and said the one who would attend the birth was on lunch! I held out for as long as i could (i think it was about an hour or so) but the pain was so excruciating in the end my oh had to phone her and get her to come out. You can't have your gas and air without a midwife there and OMG the relief from the gas and air and birthing pool was amazing!
Well after my last labour (when I was only having contractions every 10 mins and DD2 was born really quick!) I'm gonna be calling my MW ASAP!! Cos I have no entonox in the house (health & safety rules) so I'll be bitting the wooden spoon till she arrives.
I had a fiddle with the TENS machine last night and it felt realy nice !!
Hi,
When I had ds1 as a planned hb I was told to call the mw as soon as I thought I was labour. It might differ between different NHS trusts though and I'd check with your mw.
