High BP. Can I have a home birth?
I had high bp for the last month of my pregnancy,166/115!!my mid wife was really good when it 1st started she sent me to hospital to get checked, they sent me home on the condition that i rested and a mw came to see me every day untill i went in to labour, they knew i wanted a home birth and made sure that i got one.Talk it through with your mw,i was lucky there are only two midwifes where i live(rural devon) so they really get to know you and what you want, they rally should help you stick to what you want unless there is no other option but stick to your guns if you can!
good luck luv Hazel xx
I read you other post- you're right, we need to fight for what we believe is right for us.
I'm convinced that all the intervention at Dds birth was more to do with being in hospital than anything else. as soon as I set foot in the door I felt as if all the control and choices had been taken away from me, every step of intervention seemed to automatically lead to another. Had they not insisted on putting me on a drip and BP monitor I wouldn't have been flat on a bed from the very beginning, had I not been flat on the bed i could have found a position where from delivering DD, even though she was back to back, would have been possible and I'd have felt in control. Had I been allowed to change position I may not have needed forceps or as a result an epesiostomy.
I know I will be much more relaxed in my own home and as a result hopefully my BP will not go sky high as a result.
I'm going to talk to my midwife and see what she thinks, I value her opinion more than the consultants as I felt he thinks all babies should be born in hospital.
Good luck and don't let them get to you.

Hi, i am having problems with consultants right now, see my other post titled im upset with hospitals and obstetricians. The law says you can give birth wherever you want and you must be provided with a mw. the medical profession are risk focused and always give the negative side to everything. Go to www.homebirth.org it will give you all the info there. I find that others have been strong enough to stand their ground and they are helping me to do the same. I was at the point of having an unassisted birth if noone would help me. I'm not going back to hospital, ive done that twice and i dont want to be on my back again.
When I had DD I had high BP towards the end and they ended up inducing me and monitoring my BP throughout labour so I had to be flat on my back on a bed for the whole thing. DD was back to back so in the end was a forceps delivery (again I'm convinced this was largely due to me being stuck on a bed and unable to move around and try different positions to push her out). Because of DDs birth the consultant at my booking in appointment seemed unwilling to consider anything other than a hospital delivery this time round.
I feel quite strongly that I want a home birth but feel that they wont even consider it an option.
Anyone had high BP and still had a home birth?
